Dan se koristi za zagovaranje odr\u017eivog upravljanja slatkovodnim resursima. Tema svake godine usredoto\u010dena je na teme relevantne za \u010distu vodu , sanitaciju i higijenu ( WASH ), \u0161to je u skladu s ciljevima 6. cilja odr\u017eivog razvoja.
